Il nostro Dio delle brume, 2024 - in progress
The atmospheric and overtly romantic
polyptychs from my most recent work-in-progress cycle entitled "Il
nostro Dio delle brume" (Our God of the Mists) were taken the first
in Sonogno in the Verzasca Valley and the second in a still deserted and
devastated Bavona Valley in January 2025 with a small format Nikon F2
camera from the 1970s. They concretise my return to a work on film again
and to an imaging linked above all to the classical tradition of photography
that does not envisage effects in the darkroom first and then in digital
post-production, a choice that is not only formal but also avowedly reactionary
with respect to the kitsch tendencies of contemporary “artistic” photography
(now fortunately largely overcome) and aimed at delegating solely to themes,
subjects, their semantic meaning and aesthetic value the ultimate sense
of their representation.
