Il nostro Dio delle brume (Our God of Mists), 2024 - in progress

This series, organised into polyptychs and produced with a small format Nikon F2 camera from the 1970s, concretise my return to a work on film again and to an imaging linked above all to the classical tradition of photography that does not envisage effects in the darkroom first and then in digital post-production.

It is also linked to personal memory, which evokes the countless summer sundays of my childhood spent in the Ticino mountains with my paternal grandfather, a keen hiker and mountaineer. During those hikes to mountain pastures or alpine refuges that always seemed distant and unreachable, sudden changes in weather conditions (in the past, forecasts were not as accurate as they are today) often took us by surprise, forcing us to take shelter under sloping rocks, abandoned stables and “sprügh”, the shepherds’ primitive shelters. In those cramped spaces, we would stand in silence, listening to the sounds of nature in its most impressive and wild manifestations, waiting for the god of mist and storms to show mercy and allow us to resume our journey.
